Character's name: Arilynne Fairchild
Character's age: 17
Character's race: Human
Character's factions: Beacon
Character's attitude: Broken and hurting on the inside, Ari has developed a mask of anger to hide behind. After the death of her brother, Linus, she became withdrawn and refused contact with the outside world. When she finally emerged from grief, it was with all the presence and forebearance of a thunder storm. She prefers to push people away with her rudeness rather than let them get close. After all, if they are close, it will hurt all the more if she loses them.
She despises her birth name and prefers to go by Ari. Her greatest desire is for someone to get close enough to see the hurt inside and help her deal with it. This is more of a subconscious desire since she has made a conscious decision to push everyone away.

Ari possesses a startling combination of red hair and blue eyes. Like most red heads, she has very pale skin. Physically, she is rather pretty. She is tall, thin, and lithe, a combination that seems to clash with her abilities. Because of her body structure, her muscles, while not extraordinarily large, appear to be very defined. Ari chooses to wear a black and white tanktop and loose black pants with black boots. Occasionally, she will wear a hooded jacket, but mostly she goes without. She is usually seen wearing a pair of gloves with the fingers cut off.
Weapons: Ari's primary weapon comes in the form of a spiked hand covering. Her usual gloves serve to protect her hand from the metal of the weapon. A leather strap secures it around her wrist while her fingers fit through a metal loop. The weapon's resting form is as shown:

When Ari enters into combat, she activates retractible blades in the gauntlet by forming a fist. This puts pressure on the metal loop, setting the gears for the blades into motion. These blades are knifelike and three to four inches in length.
Ari also carries a small handgun strapped in a holster at her belt. She much prefers her gloves, however.
Other info: Ari possesses a Semblance of strength, a Semblence that is augmented by her weapon of choice.
History: Ari's much older brother, Linus, was a Hunter of Vale. Ari idolized him, dreaming to one day be like him. There was a strong relationship between the two of them, despite Linus often being drawn away by his duties as a Hunter. Ari did not get along well with her father, who had once been a warrior, and whose experiances had caused him to become withdrawn and recluse. Her mother, while loving and kind, was a tremulous woman who was extraordinarily soft spoken and who, while never verbally saying so, resented Linus for his choice of career.
Ari entered into a combat school and trained in fighting and the use of her Semblance and weapon, eager to follow in Linus's footsteps. It was while she was still in school that she lost her brother while he was away on a mission. In the time following her brother's death, Ari became quiet, brooding, and depressed. For months, she remained solitary, rejecting social contact and lashing out at those who dared pity her or offer her sympathy. Over time, her emotions developed into an all consuming anger at the Grimm, her father, who remained as reclusive as ever, her mother, who spent most of her time grieving, and the world in general for taking her brother from her.
Her quest to become more like Linus turned into a quest for revenge. Ari's goal became to make sure that she killed as many monsters in her life time as she could, ensuring that her brother had not died in vain. What she missed however, was that her brother did not live simply to kill monsters, but to protect those the Grimm targeted.
Using her anger to drive herself to new levels of training and power, she graduated from combat school and was accepted into Beacon. There, she hoped to become stronger and more combat ready.
Role-play Sample:
Ari leaned against the wall of the decorative interior of the craft that would deliver her and her fellow students to Beacon Academy. Her hands remained stuck in the pockets of her black, zip-up hoodie, the sleeves pushed up past her elbows to reveal two pale arms. Her holster and the twin gauntlets that served as her weapons peeked out from under the hem of the jacket, safely secured to her belt. The ends of her loose black pants were tucked into the high tops of her boots, which were also black. Black, the color of grief, mourning, and despair. Ari thought it fit her rather well. After all, she would never finish grieving the loss of Linus. At the thought of her brother, she sighed and shifted her feet slightly.
Her red hair spilled over her shoulders and down her back, standing out vibrantly against the darkness of her clothing. She observed her fellows with her strikingly blue eyes, her facial expression unwelcoming and hostile. She had no interest in making friends or getting to know her fellow students. She was there to become one of the best, and that meant she had no time for distractions in the form of other people. Besides, if she did get close to someone and they went and died on her, she would be leaving herself open for another empty spot in her heart shaped like that person.
No, thanks, she thought bitterly, Better to go it alone than get hurt all over again. I don't need another tear fest.
She glanced up at a monitor, around which was gathered a knot of students, all of whom avidly followed the news story about the latest White Fang attack. She watched for a moment before returning her gaze to the wall directly across from the one on which she leaned. She kept up on the news just enough to remain in the loop. A group of terrorist Faunis was not her problem. She was there to fight monsters, to continue her brother's fight.
I won't let you down, big bro. You can count on it.
