So, we've got characters based on fairy tails fighting creatures of darkness. A group of terrorists rising against the human populace. The presence of androids. Now we're throwing seasons into the mix...

According to the commentary by girls, Cinder is the placeholder name because they're not allowed to name her yet.

Now we're throwing seasons into the mix... I'm actually surmised that they haven't even posted a release date for Volume 2. I know they took a break after V 1 (well, Monty didn't, but the other guys did), but still. Not even a potential release date?

Well, darn it. we could be waiting for a long time to find anything out. They gave us maybe three hours of material for season one and then left us hanging.

Here's another speculation. I think that Qrow built Penny, our resident android.

I do think Penny is an android, but I don't think Qrow built her. If Qrow is a teacher at Signal and students at Signal go to Beacon, Penny would have gone to Beacon with the rest of them. She's probably from out of town so someone else built her. I'll bet that Penny is a prototype for a new wave of Hunter-bots and that who ever created them wants to ultimately replace Huntsmen and Huntresses and threaten to make Beacon obsolete while making a ton of money. You know, like Robocop except Vale isn't bankrupt like Detroit.

Maybe...I came to my conclusion because when Penny is in the limo, we hear a male voice speaking to her. And then, directly afterward, Ozpin gets the message from Qrow. But you're right. If Qrow built her, she would have gone to Beacon.

I already speculated on the driver of Penny's car. It's most likely the creator, for one. However, it's definitely not Qrow. Qrow is most likely a reference to the Scarecrow from "The Wizard of Oz," especially as his weapon is a scythe, initially used for harvesting crops. He ties in with Ozpin (Oz) and Glynda Goodwitch (Glenda the Good Witch).
Penny is a reference to Pinocchio. Obviously not human, uses wires as part of her weapon, and her outfit is half-Tron, half old-fashioned, and Pinocchio wore an old-fashioned vest and bow tie. Not only that, Penny is the only character to have no last name, as did Pinocchio.
Pinocchio's creator was Geppetto, an old carpenter who had white hair and a white mustache, and wore an arpon, white collared shirt and square blue-lenses glasses over his nose. No character has fit that description yet. The closest is Ozpin and he's a totally different story. Since characters often bear a physical, name, or personality-based resemblance to their reference, we should keep an eye out for anyone looking like the above with a name similar to Geppetto, who also had no last name.

I hadn't thought of that, but that makes perfect sense. Monty just keeps getting more clever every day.
